3 Restaurants That Make Careys Manor A Plant-Based Paradise

According to a recent report, half the UK population will be vegetarian or vegan in less than 20 years. This Veganuary, why not give it a try, and discover the benefits of going meat-free by indulging in delicious veggie and vegan food?

The Veganuary 2024 campaign focuses on trying vegan for just one month, to support a greener planet, lower food bills, better health and kindness to animals. It’s an excellent way to do your bit for the environment and pack in more than just your five-a-day!

Proud foodies needn’t panic about finding great restaurants and tasty dishes for vegetarians – at Careys Manor, we are a vegan and vegetarian-friendly hotel in Hampshire, with our three onsite restaurants offering an impressive selection of vegetarian and vegan menus.

Oui, Oui, Go Veggie!

At our Authentic French Bistro in the New Forest, Le Blaireau, our experienced chefs serve up more than just French Onion Soup for our vegetarian guests. A fantastic vegetarian restaurant option in the New Forest, our menu features Amuse Bouche options including Chickpea Fritter with Tomato Relish and Marinated Olives with Provence Herbs. Starters include a Terrine de Legumes which consists of an aubergine, courgette and red onion terrine served with basil pesto. And for the main event: banana shallot tart with horseradish and apple & cucumber salad, or halloumi and portobello mushroom burger, rocket salad and French fries.

Thailand’s Take On Veganism

Go exotic this Veganuary at our Zen Garden restaurant – another excellent vegetarian restaurant option in the New Forest for locals to Brockenhurst. Inspired by authentic rich and aromatic flavours of Thailand, the Vegetarian and Vegan A La Carte menu offers locally-sourced organic ingredients to create starters like Poh Pad Tord – spring rolls filled with mixed vegetables, glass noodles served with sweet chilli sauce and Som Tom papaya salad with shredded green papaya, cherry tomatoes, green beans, Thai dressing and cashew nuts. To follow, treat yourself to Khee Mao delicious tofu with mixed vegetables in a sweet chilli sauce with cashew nuts. And you won’t be able to resist one of the sweet treats to finish – banana fritters with honey and coconut ice cream, pineapple carpaccio served with agave syrup, basil leaves and coconut sorbet.

Sensationally Seasonal Veg

Head Chef at our flagship restaurant Cambium, Dylan James, has crafted a bespoke menu with deliciously seasonal and locally-produced vegetarian dishes such as salt-baked celeriac with hazelnut pesto and watercress, Tandoori spiced roast cauliflower with golden raisin, greens and dukkah, roast Isle of Wight aubergine with butter bean saffron purée, piquillo peppers and tempura tenderstem broccoli.

Looking for a little more indulgence? Cambium’s vegan afternoon teas offer all the mouth-watering bites you would expect from any afternoon tea – finger sandwiches and sweets including chocolate mousse, seasonal fruit slice and coconut milk truffle.

So, if you’re giving it a go in 2024, join us in January for a memorable Veganuary dining break, where our three vegetarian restaurants in the New Forest take you on a journey from forest to fork, from France to England and from tropical Thailand to the classic British countryside.
