Real Weddings | Rebecca & Christopher

10th Jun 2019

At the end of March, Rebecca and Christopher tied the knot at Careys Manor and had a suprise for all of us...

The Proposal

We were in a holiday to USA, like the big kids that we are, we were there to visit Disneyworld with Becky’s mum, dad, sister and brother-in-law. We took a helicopter tour over all the Disney Park and Chris proposed whilst we were up in the air!

Why did you choose Careys Manor Hotel for your wedding?

Becky’s parents have been coming to Careys Manor for more than 30 years. Becky came as a child a lot with them and since she brought me we both knew it was the most magical place to tie the knot, and we weren’t wrong! The beautiful surroundings were just the perfect backdrop to such a special day.

The Dress

Becky wore a beautiful gown from Sass & Grace. This wasn’t her first dress however. She brought one a year before the wedding but we found out she was pregnant 6 weeks before we got married. We are so glad it happened as it meant the second dress was actually more amazing than the first. She wore a medium length veil and a crystal belt.

The Groom's Outfit

Christopher wore a navy blue suit from Moss Bros. It’s probably the most expensive piece of clothing he owns, he explained. "I had the full works – waistcoat, jacket and even personalised groom socks."

The Bridesmaids

Sophie and Emma were Becky’s bridesmaids. They looked absolutely stunning in pale pink shin length dresses.  Becky’s sister, who was maid of honour, wore a dark forest green floor length gown with a pale pink cardigan. The contrast of colours was beautiful and she looked absolutely gorgeous.

The Ceremony

We got married in the lounge. Becky entered to the Piano Guys version of ‘a thousand years’. We got all our flowers from Owen at Little Lillies and included the woodland setting with the flower arches.

Becky’s maid of honour and sister conducted a reading about marriage and it was beautiful. It brought both Becky and I to tears.

During the ceremony Becky was nervous so managed to mess up her lines (despite her saying it would be me!!) and also put my ring on the wrong finger! But it was perfect and we laughed about it.

After the ceremony, this seemed to go so quickly. We walked (or should I say danced) out to 'Love Shack'. It sums both of us up and managed to inject a little humour to the ceremony.

We then had pictures outside with all of our guests before being taken off with our photographers to have photos taken in the grounds.

When we arrived back, we had Michael King the Magician entertaining guests with his tricks. He was brilliant and kept guests entertained during canopies and drinks.

The Reception

Vicki Parkinson was our singer before the evening kicked off. She sang tunes to suit the mood and people and was absolutely fantastic! This isn’t her full time job but it certainly should be!!

The reception was held in the beautiful. We hired a giant photo booth to go in one corner from Pixel Machine Photo Booth. Everyone had so much fun in there and the staff running it was brilliant. We used the small side room as a sweet and chocolate fountain room - that certainly went down a treat.

We had Toby Oakley as our wedding DJ and he did not disappoint. He made sure the music suited the dance floor and the vibe of the guests. I’ve never seen some of our family members dance like they did... it was either Toby’s music choices or the alcohol... or both!! Nothing was too much trouble for Toby and we are so grateful for his excellent work which he is clearly passionate about. I think he did draw the line at playing the Pokémon theme tune... but we can forgive him for that!

We chose to have the American diner buffet for our evening guests. Hot dogs, mac and cheese, key lime pie! Becky and I didn’t manage to try any as we were so busy but it looked fantastic and all the other guests said it was great.

The Flowers

We got all our flowers from Owen at Little Lillies. We weren’t able to meet Owen at all before the wedding due to not living locally, but despite this everything we asked for over the phone and email was perfectly crafted and was everything we wanted. We went for pale pink roses to match the colour scheme of the bridesmaids and pale pink ‘trees’ on the guest tables. We wanted a woodland affect and they certainly delivered.

Tell us about the décor you chose

We went for simple decor. The hotel didn’t need much decorating as the look it already has is well kept and pretty. We only really decorated the tables with the flowers from Owen. The venue is stunning in itself. We hired 5ft LOVE letters from Choices Hire Services which really finished the room off. They looked amazing lit up and gave the perfect backdrop for our first dance.

How do you feel the day went?

The day couldn’t have gone any better. There wasn’t a single thing we would change other than being able to do it all over again! Françoise was amazing from start to finish. She was always on hand to help organise or answer any questions we had. The staff at Careys... I can’t begin to explain how amazing they all are. Every single person we can across was polite, helpful, and chatty and nothing was too much to ask. We’ve had nothing but fantastic customer service from Carey’s Manor and they have never once failed us. The MC on the day was brilliant. He was generally interested in our day, listened to the speeches and laughed along. This made us feel he was part of the day and he made sure anything was done correctly and smoothly. Thank you.

Any particular memories that stand out that you would like to share?

Announcing the arrival of our baby in October was definitely the highlight of the day! Becky was 12 weeks pregnant on the day we got married so I announced it at the end of my speech and everyone was overjoyed! We are so excited to welcome our first baby and it was so special we got to announce it on our wedding day.

Becky and I took a few minutes out the day to walk the grounds of Carey’s Manor. Firstly because it was so hot with all the dancing but secondly we wanted to be by ourselves and take in the day. Whilst admiring the beautiful views we talked about how we didn’t want the day to end and how magical it was. A friend got a cheeky snap from the distance of us enjoying this special time. As well as a few runners who went passed!

We can’t thank everyone who was involved enough. Without you all it wouldn’t have been the most amazing day of our lives. Thank you.
