Gemma and Daniel tied the knot at Careys Manor Hotel on 3rd June 2018. Here's the story of their beautitul summer werdding.
I was driving home from work one afternoon. As I approached Beaulieu I encountered the usual forest traffic from the ponies and donkeys. As I slowly approached the bridge in the village, I could see Dan stood on the edge of the road with a giant bunch of roses and a sign saying “Gem, Will you marry me?’
Causing more traffic I stopped in the middle of the road…
I got out of the car and Dan got down on one knee asking me to marry him. Of course, I said yes and then he took me for a lovely lunch in the Montagu Arms hotel. (We did move the car first)
What else I did not know was that whilst I was at work, Dan had arranged for my mum to be round our house packing both of our suitcases for a cruise around the Mediterranean ready to set off at 5 am the next morning.
We had been to a wedding at Careys Manor a few years before and we fell in love with the hotel, returning several times after to use the Spa. We always agreed that when the time came we would get married here.
After trying on several dresses, I returned to the first shop I visited (Something Old Something New) to purchase the second dress I had ever tried on. It was a white lace Venus gown with a low back. I added a sparkly belt and a cathedral length veil - taking the very professional advice of the lovely ladies who helped me find ‘the one’.
Dan wore a navy blue Ted Baker suit along with all the grooms men. Dan wanted all of them to be matching and was very particular about this. They wore a blush pink tie, tan brogues, finished off perfectly with a dusky pink rose for a buttonhole.
My Bridesmaids were my sister and my life long friend Tara. Their dresses were one of the first things I purchased for the wedding. They wore dusky pink knee length lace dresses with nude heels.
We chose to get married in the Cedar Suite at Careys Manor. The room looked magical. We had arranged a woodland package of trees and candles to line an ivory carpet down the isle, with a backdrop behind us of an ivory flower wall. I walked down the isle to ‘Better Today by Coffey Anderson’ and our final song as we left the room was ‘Rascal Flats, Life's a Highway’ (a favourite of our 2 young sons and their love of Cars- Disney)
Our wedding breakfast was held in the Manor suite, a room with so much character. The room was decorated with candelabras, roses and green foliage. After a delicious 3 course meal, we returned to the Cedar Suite (where all the ceremony décor had be rearranged to suit the evening) and the walled garden to enjoys some sunshine and live acoustic music. The evening continued in the Cedar Suite with a dj and lots of dancing with a short break to enjoy a BBQ and some cake in the evening sun.
Our flowers were created in collaboration with the in house florist Owen, and Jo Hicks. Our main flower was a rose, colours included dusky pink, nude, and pale blush pink finished of with white freesias and eucalyptus.
The whole day came together perfectly in every way. It exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed the whole experience, from booking our wedding and planning it, to the day itself. With the expertise of Francois and her glorious team our day was something truly special. We only wish we could do it all again…
