Last autumn, Gabriella and Aaron tied the knot at Careys Manor, throwing the perfect autumn wedding celebration. We caught up with the newly weds to find out more about their New Forest wedding.
One evening on holiday in Sydney Australia, where we were visiting my best friend, we were out for dinner when we heard fireworks. We ran up some steps to try and catch a better view but when we got to the top we had unfortunately missed them but were laughing lots! We were right by Sydney Opera House by then so Aaron asked me to turn to face the building for a photo. When I turned back to look at the photo he was down on one knee!
We found it really lovely and intimate but with an elegant feel. The service was wonderful and coming from a family of restauranteurs we really appreciate quality service. We felt comfortable in the venue and welcome and we knew this would be great for our big day.
I wore an oyster coloured dress with a satin skirt and beaded lace sparkly top with a keyhole back and a small train. I had satin shoes with a low block heel as we had a long day planned!
Aaron wore a deep electric blue suit with a paisley burgundy tie and handkerchief.
The Bridesmaids were my daughter Maya, sister Vanessa and niece Jade. They wore beautiful high neck dusky raspberry coloured lace dresses with long trains.
The ceremony was lovely and intimate with our closest friends and family there – around 60 people. We were married in the lounge with the beautiful wooden ceiling. Our friends decorated the room beautifully for us with colourful flowers, oranges, reds, and lovely candles. We also had some of the beautiful flowers from our florist Owen Lavin. My dad walked me down the aisle to ‘At Last’ by Etta James (one of Aaron's favourites). I felt amazing and it was lovely to have all our friends and family gathered around us in such a cosy space. Our ceremony was emotional and heart felt and we were lucky enough to have my old boss
as our registrar and an old colleague as our master of ceremonies. My best friend from Australia read a reading by Bob Marley. There were lots of tears and happiness.
We had a beautiful meal the Cedar Suite with beautiful windows and a warm welcome from our friends and family. The speeches were brilliant and included a song from my whole family which was hilarious and emotional too.
More guests joined us in the evening for a night of dancing and fun. I threw my bouquet from the steps of the Cedar Garden which was caught and passed to my new husband’s niece who held on to it all night! As part of our wedding package, we had the BBQ option for the evening meal and our guests loved it! We had my sister’s band 'Strumpet Town' playing which was absolutely brilliant and the DJ was amazing too - he told me he hadn’t seen a bride dance that much ever!
Flowers were by Owen Lavin at Little Lillies. We asked for a colourful bouquet and gave Owen a few photos of the colours we liked and he did an amazing job providing us with a beautifully colourful and vibrant bouquet and button holes.
We chose to make a lot of our decorations, including a postbox, alongside Owen's beautiful table decorations including candelabras filled with rich burgandy and red flowers and trailing foliage. It was all about the vibrant colours for us.
We had the most amazing day it was beautifully sunny and warm for an October wedding. We were so lucky to have our nearest and dearest around us to celebrate this amazing day. The Wedding Coordinator, Francoise helped it run so smoothly and our Master Of Ceremonies, Peter Tautz was brilliant at making the atmosphere perfect for all those attending. Truly the best day of our lives together.
Our photographers Natasha Jay and Will Baggs were so attentive and made us feel really comfortable. James Rudge and his nephew took our wedding video which was a bit of an after thought but we are so glad we have these amazing memories to relive as the day went so fast! We also have a very funny marryoke video to watch when we need a giggle. My hair was styled by E'clips Hairdressing and makeup by my friend Kelly Croft. Just an amazing, wonderful day with no stress, worries or problems. Everyone had a brilliant time and we talk about it fondly. The wedding venue was fantastic and we couldn’t have asked for more for our special day. We are looking forward to returning for our anniversary soon. Thank you Careys Manor staff!
