Join professional photographer Simon John for an inspiring day designed to help you take more confident, creative photos of the people and places you love. Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to refine your technique, this immersive experience blends expert insight with practical learning in a beautiful, local setting.
Set within the grounds of Careys Manor and the surrounding New Forest landscape, this is a unique opportunity to learn new skills while enjoying a creative day out in Hampshire.
What to expect
Begin the day with an informal welcome and introduction before Simon shares his personal journey, portfolio and professional insights. Through engaging discussion and live critique, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of composition, lighting and storytelling through photography. We recommend bringing up to 3 of your favourite photos taken by you, or sending them to us directly before the event, for a personal feedback session from Simon.
In the afternoon, put theory into practice with guided shooting sessions, either outdoors in the New Forest or indoors depending on the weather. You’ll explore how to work with natural light, textures and landscapes, as well as techniques for capturing natural, authentic moments with loved ones. If you come with a partner, this is a wonderful opportunity to capture some lovely photos of each other – all of which will be shared following the event.
The day concludes with a relaxed still life session and the chance to ask any final questions over coffee.
