Real Weddings – Sophie & Adam
After a twilight wedding proposal, Sophie and Adam married at Hampshire Wedding venue Careys Manor Hotel during the Platinum Jubilee weekend. We caught up with the couple to see how their special day went ...
How did you meet?
“Adam and I met on an online dating app. After talking everyday for a few months and eventually meeting Adam he asked me to be his girlfriend on New Years Eve in 2014.”
The Proposal
“Adam and I celebrated our four year anniversary at the restaurant we shared our first date and after dinner we took a stroll to admire the Christmas lights and decorations. Adam got down on one knee under the big Christmas tree, it was magical and of course I said “yes!”.
Choosing Careys Manor
“Careys Manor came highly recommended by a couple of my customers after I told them that Adam and I were looking for a wedding venue in the New Forest. They had booked their wedding at Careys Manor and couldn’t recommend highly enough.”
The Flowers
“After falling in love with the hotel flowers we chose Owen from Little Lillies. We wanted to carry the theme of the hotel flowers into our wedding and we were happy to follow Owen’s recommendations within our colour theme of purple and silver.”
The Food
“Careys Manor let us choose three options for our guests to pre-order from and that was a big reason we decided to go with Careys Manor as it’s not the norm with other venues in the New Forest. Prior to our wedding we had a delicious menu tasting which really helped us choose. We went for a combination of what we like and what we felt our guests would also enjoy. The food on the day was delicious and the service was brilliant.”
The Photographer
“We chose Scott from ASR Photos who was one of the photographers recommended by Françoise. We cannot recommend Scott enough! We had a pre-wedding photoshoot with him which let us get to know each other, what we wanted, what we liked and what we didn’t like. On the day Scott had the perfect mix of natural photos plus the posed ones – which is exactly what we wanted.”
The Dress
“I bought my dress from a local boutique in my hometown of Amesbury called CG Boutique. Like many people say it wasn’t the style I went in thinking I wanted but I absolutely loved my dress and veil on the day. While I got many compliments of those two things on the day my tiara really did steal the show and I couldn’t help feel like a princess.”
The Suits
“Adam, his best man, our fathers and his groomsmen hired suits from Slaters in Southampton which was a recommendation from Adam’s brother. They all looked incredibly handsome on the day.”
The Wedding Cake
“We chose a local business called Kelly’s Angel Cakes having previously ordered from them for Adam’s 30th birthday cake. It was so delicious and exactly what I requested so I knew I wanted to use Kelly’s services again.”
Evening Entertainment
“We again went by Careys Manor recommendation and booked Your DJ for our entertainment. We asked all of our guests to choose a song that would get them dancing, which I would highly recommend doing for a varied playlist! Toby also provided us a photobooth which was great fun! He gave us a copy of each photo which was put in a guest book and our guests left us messages – definitely something for us to treasure! We also had a two chocolate fountains provided by Chocolate Fountains of Dorset which went down very well with kids and adults alike!”
Both myself and Adam had the perfect wedding day at Careys Manor. From the weather, the scenery, the food, the service – we could not have asked for anymore! A special thank you goes to Francoise who was at my beck and call for any questions and really helped us make the exact day we wanted.
