Why We Love Christmas in the New Forest

Christmas truly is the most magical time of the year and here at Careys Manor we look forward to the festive season more than any other. Here are some reasons why we love Christmas in the New Forest!

Everyone’s happy and in the party mood

We host two different party nights at Careys Manor – The Christmas Ball and Party Nights at Le Blaireau so there’s never a dull moment throughout December. Christmas seems to be that one time of year that no matter how far away you live from relatives, friends and colleagues, there’s something about the festive season that draws us all closer. Our party nights offer the perfect opportunity for these reunions with merriment, good food and relaxing overnight stays – not to mention a hearty cooked breakfast the next morning.

Christmas Decorations

It is the only time of year when it’s ok to be dark by 4pm because that means the Christmas lights come on! Our florist Owen ensures Careys Manor gets into the festive spirit and decorates it beautifully. The 40ft Christmas tree in the main reception is the star of the show adorned with twinkling lights and decorations. Look out for the hundreds of baubles and woodland animals throughout the hotel, in our restaurants and lounge. The log fires are also roaring providing that extra flicker of light.

Indulgence

No one feels guilty for over indulging at Christmas. Enjoying a sherry at 12pm or a chocolate at 9am during your Christmas hotel break is completely acceptable –  “It’s Christmas”. Our Chef’s have put together festive dining menus showcasing the best seasonal produce. We are able to offer two dining options; modern British cuisine at Cambium or a taste of France at our French Bistro Le Blaireau.

Walks in the New Forest

There is something quite magical about exploring the New Forest in the winter months. If you are a morning lark we recommend wrapping up warm, embracing the cold air in your lungs and going on a brisk walk. With fewer people on the tracks at that time of the day you are more likely to get closer to nature, spot a frost laden spider’s web and jump in an icy puddle yet to be cracked.  If an early start isn’t for you why not head to the walking trails at Blackwater on the Rhinefield Ornamental Drive, just a short journey from the hotel. These beautiful walking routes are surrounded by evergreen trees such as the Douglas Fir and the Giant Redwood which can grow to be the largest living thing on earth! After a wholesome walk we refer to the point above and recommend heading back to the hotel to indulge on a Christmas Afternoon Tea.

Warming up at SenSpa

If the cold isn’t for you then a Christmas spa day at SenSpa offers the perfect escape from the pre-Christmas prep and gives you some much needed ‘me-time’. If you are short of time in the run up to Christmas but still dream of that spa day then add a SenSpa gift voucher to your Christmas list and give yourself something to look forward to in the New Year!

Escaping it all

After a stressful 18 months, weeks of socialising and present buying it’s time to escape and be the one that’s being taken care of!  Our Christmas break means you can celebrate. relax and indulge with no stress. Arrive at our cosy country manor house on Christmas Eve and be shown to your bedroom which will be home for the next couple of nights. We have plenty in store for you from a Christmas afternoon tea to a Black Tie dinner party.

A time for new beginnings

Our New Year Break is the ultimate excuse to get dressed up and party! See in 2022 in style by enjoying a sophisticated evening at our black tie event starting with a Champagne and canape reception followed by a six-course dinner, casino tables and DJ.
