What We Love Most About Winter Weddings

Each season brings with it a certain charm in the New Forest but the most romantic of them all has to be winter. With crisp skies, frosty landscapes, dimly lit rooms and open fires, our New Forest wedding venue is the perfect location for your winter wedding.

Here is what we love most about a winter wedding:

The weather

Yes, that’s right, the weather! Warm sunshine is out of the question so embrace the chill! Who can argue at the beauty of a bride and groom photographed surrounded by frosty scenes or laughing under an umbrella? The low position of the sun in winter helps to cast interesting shadows and you can make the most of the early sunset creating a natural golden glow to your photos.

Flowers and décor

Whether you prefer gothic colours of rich reds and deep purples, a winter wonderland of cool whites and soft greens or foliage and pinecones as your centre pieces, all work perfectly in winter! Don’t forget to add warmth to your day by using candles and fairy lights within your décor and centre pieces.

Food and drink

When the weather is cold outside you may be craving the comfort of warming food such as a delicious meal like Lamb Shoulder, braised potato and broccoli followed by steamed treacle sponge. But you don’t have to have a traditional meal, what about an alternative wedding breakfast such as an indulgent Afternoon Tea? Warm scones served with lashings of clotted cream and jam served alongside delicate finger sandwiches and seasonal cakes and pastries. You could opt for a hot chocolate station to be served alongside.

It’s all in the detail

There is so much opportunity to spoil your nearest and dearest with little touches which all add to up to make a memorable day. Favours are a great opportunity where you could gift guests hot chocolate cones, mini bottles of baileys, tea light holders or even sparklers to take outside once the wedding breakfast has finished. The latter makes for fabulous photos too!

The outfits

A winter wedding allows the freedom to play with texture which just wouldn’t be possible in the spring and summer months. Think, an elaborate embellished wedding dress, sleek velvet bridesmaid dresses, faux fur stoles and tweed three-piece suits. All super stylish and super warm.
