Marie joined our Hampshire Spa in 2006 having previously worked as a Graphic Designer. She has a large portfolio of fitness and well being qualifications under her belt (personal training, sports massage, pregnancy massage, pre and post natal exercise, Zumba and Thai boxing to name just a few!) and has helped many clients improve their fitness levels to control health conditions such as Parkinson’s and Osteoporosis.
“Some of my clients rely on the gym for their rehabilitation and strengthening to control their conditions such as Parkinson’s, high blood pressure, Osteoporosis and knee injuries. We work with these members to teach them techniques that will improve their mobility through a variety of different exercises.”
During her spare time, Marie enjoys Thai boxing.
“I used to compete in friendly boxing events and my sparring partner and friend was the Southern area Thai boxing champion, Rachel Clarke. I competed in a C Class fight and won the 1st round however lost the second and third due to having broken ribs! I didn’t actually feel any pain until the adrenaline wore off!”
Her love for Thai boxing recently took her to Thailand where she visited Bangkok, Chang Mai and Koh Somui. As well as Thai boxing, Marie tried snowboarding for the first time in March in Slovakia and fell in love with the snow sport. She is a regular 10K runner and ran the Race for Life run with two of our SenSpa members, Penny Stenning and Slavka Samel this year. Penny recently completed the Bournemouth 10K after only taking up running 5 months ago and Slavka is now training for a marathon.
Marie has also taken on the challenge of the Judgement Day event in November along with Spa Operations Manager, Sean Hincks and other members of the SenSpa team. She’s been training hard and the team are confident they can complete the race in good time!
During her spare time Marie looks after her 29 year old Arab horse, Rosie and spending time with her colleagues and friends. Her favourite sports personality is Jessica Ennis,
“I admire her determination, drive and focus. She is humble and down to earth. She said after her Olympic win that all she wants to do is ‘eat rubbish food and have a few glasses of wine’ which also makes her someone that we can all relate to as a normal human being. She also looks incredible due to hard work, no liposuction or cosmetic surgery!”
