Night Porter

Type – Full time (45 hours per week), with a rota operating on 5 out of 7 days per week, including weekends.

Reports to – Hotel Manager

The Night Porter is an important member of the Front of House team and will maintain Careys Manor Standards of Excellence in all areas supervised during the night shift.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Check-in late arrivals and greet guests in a friendly and professional manner
  • Park guest cars and inform them of the parked location
  • Show guests and carry luggage to their rooms promptly
  • Deal with requests in an efficient and courteous manner
  • Ensure all luggage stored in the luggage room is correctly labelled and the room is kept tidy and locked at all times
  • Maintain awareness of arrivals and scheduled functions/events
  • Assist in the set-up of conference rooms if required
  • Provide a support service to bar staff in provision of beverages to guests and conferences
  • Have knowledge of hotel facilities and correctly communicate these to guests
  • Have knowledge of local attractions and assist guests as required
  • Ensure a high standard of personal presentation ensuring uniform is clean and tidy at all times
  • Maintain a professional and high-quality service-oriented environment, ensuring four-star standards are adhered to at all times
  • Maintaining high standards of public areas within the hotel grounds and property
  • Ensure all outlets have followed the night closing procedures and handover
  • Night audit and hotel safety/security – locking up and regular security checks
  • Act in accordance with the Hotel’s fire plan – responsible for the Fire procedures and quarterly night drills
  • Follow company procedures and guidelines
Our ideal candidate will:
  • Have previous Front Office/Night work experience in a luxury property
  • Be personable, helpful and reliable
  • Have high levels of personal presentation
  • Have a real passion for customer service and desire to exceed customer expectations
  • Be flexible and committed to working in a team environment
  • Demonstrate ability to adapt to changing situations
  • Have a good understanding of the English language (spoken and written)
