Night Porter

Type – Full time (45 hours per week), with a rota operating on 5 out of 7 days per week, including weekends.

Reports to – Hotel Manager

The Night Porter will provide support to members of the Front of House teams and will maintain Careys Manor Standards of Excellence in all areas supervised.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a Porter is always available in Reception to assist guests
  • Check-in late arrivals, greet guests and park guest cars
  • Show guests and luggage to their rooms promptly
  • Maintain awareness of arrivals and scheduled functions/events
  • Ensure all the outlets have followed the night closing procedures and handover, including locking up and security checks throughout night
  • Ensure that conference rooms are set up correctly by checking the function sheets and in accordance with the Hotel’s standards.
  • Order Conference stock in accordance with the budget and check invoices are correct.
  • Inform all overnight staff of nightly activities, group and VIP arrivals as well as special requests and repeat guests.
  • Provide a support service to bar staff in provision of beverages to guests and conferences
  • Act as Duty Manager for the hotel in the absence of the Front of House Manager/ Hotel Manager, problem-solving and dealing with complaints, disturbances, special requests and any other issues that may arise
  • Ensure all luggage stored in the luggage room is correctly labelled and the room is kept tidy and locked at all times
  • Maintain knowledge of hotel facilities and local attractions and correctly communicate these to guests
  • Responsible for the Fire procedures and quarterly night drills
  • Maintain a professional and high-quality service-oriented environment at all times
  • Ensure you are aware of the Four Star standards and adhere to them at all times
  • Ensure a high standard of personal presentation ensuring uniform is clean and tidy at all times
  • Follow company procedures and guidelines

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous Front Office/Night work experience in a luxury property
  • High School Diploma, general education degree or international equivalent
  • Natural leadership and excellent communication skills
  • Proficient in English
  • An operational knowledge and proficiency in Front Office Systems-Micros-Fidelio and Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • A friendly and positive attitude
