On the third Thursday of every November, Beaujolais Nouveau Day is marked in France with fireworks, music and festivals as the new wine is released at one minute past midnight just weeks after the grapes have been harvested.
Then begins the race to be among the first to sample the new vintage, as over a million cases of the freshly-pressed light red wine begin their journey through France and across the Channel to England.
This authentic French bar and bistro features an all-French wine list alongside classic regional French dishes like Beef Bourguignon and Normandy fish soup. Its stylish interior is inspired by the streets of Paris, complete with globe street lights, cobbled streets and a full-size 2CV parked just beyond the bar.
On 16th November, all members of staff will be up early, eagerly anticipating the arrival of the first bottles of Beaujolais Nouveau ready for the following evening’s celebrations.
To be among the first to sample the new season Beaujolais, book a table at Le Blaireau on November 17, where diners will enjoy a three-course dinner with live music from an accordionist for just £29.95 per person.
