Spa with Confidence

30th Aug 2020

We are delighted that all of our spa facilities are now open to residents and non-residents, including a full range of treatments and some brand new spa day packages.

Our new spa days are designed to keep you safe with effortless social distancing and the promise of a sanctuary where you can relax, indulge and revive without a care. With greatly reduced maximum guest numbers and an exemplary cleaning and sanitising regime we hope you will feel confident in booking your spa day with us.

We have created 3 new spa experiences called Chiang Mai, Samui and Lampang and each include timed sessions for all of your spa activities so that we can maintain social distancing between guests. Your itinerary might look a bit like this:

  • 9.15am Arrival and Greeting
  • 9.30am Changing Room
  • 10.00am Hydrotherapy / Relaxation
  • 12.15pm ½ hour Treatment of Your Choice
  • 1.15pm 2 Course Lunch
  • 2.45pm Changing Room

Here are some of the other proceedures we've put in place to ensure you can safely enjoy a trip to the spa.

Before you arrive, we'll send you an online health questionnaire. You would usually fill in the questionnaire just before your treatment, but to help with social distancing we kindly ask you to complete it online at least 24 hours before your arrival date.

Bring a credit/debit card with you as cash will not be accepted and details will be required for contactless payments.

When you arrive, you will be required to wear a face covering in public areas of the hotel and dry areas of the spa. We will ask to take your temperature on arriving at the spa and should you show signs of a high temperature, we will have to ask you to return home.

Helpful signage is placed around public areas and we have greatly reduced guest numbers to aid social distancing. Hand sanitising stations are in place throughout the hotel and spa for your convenience.

We've increased cleaning and disinfecting of common touch points, e.g. lobby areas, public bathrooms, dining chairs/tables and sanitising areas using a virucidal/bactericidal disinfectant fogger. The entire spa is cleaned and disinfected with virucidal/bactericidal disinfectant fogger overnight and after every class.

If you have been to SenSpa before, you may remember that we used to have a refreshments area in the relaxation rooms that all guests could help themselves to. This has been removed in-line with our Covid-secure proceedures but you will still receive a welcome herbal tea when you arrive at the spa. We also recommend bringing a water bottle with you so you can help yourself to filtered water.

What to expect when you have a treatment

Given the personal nature of treatments we already have a high level of disinfection procedures in place, however we have increased the frequency of disinfection and half an hour is given in between treatments for the room to be completely cleaned and disinfected and each is fogged with disinfectant every night

Your therapist will wear a visor and mask for each individual guest and they will sanitise their hands before and after treatment as they have always done. We will also ask you to either wash your hands or use disinfectant gel before and after the treatment as well.

Using the Spa & leisure facilities

The number of guests that can use these facilities at any one time has been greatly reduced and you will be given a 2 hour slot on your itinerary in which you can freely use and enjoy the spa facilities.

Every guest is strictly required to shower before entering any of the pools. 75% of bacteria is removed by simple showering which leaves more available chlorine to kill virus and bacteria.

The chlorine level in the pools has been increased and pH reduced in line with Pool Water Treatment Advisory Group (PWTAG) guidelines for Covid-19. We have also set up three swimming lanes to aid social distancing. Two may be pre-booked and the third is for those who wish to just have a quick dip.

Using the Gym

All gym staff will be wearing face visors and all gym equipment has been screened to allow for appropriate social distancing.

Sanitising stations are placed throughout the gym and we kindly ask guests to disinfect gym equipment after each use. Staff will also disinfect the gym and equipment regularly.

We ask that you do not bring towels/’sweat towels’ to the gym or to classes. Please wear sweat bands instead to avoid cross-contamination.

Changing Rooms

  • Staggered arrivals for spa day guests to maintain social distancing.
  • There is helpful signage in place to allow for social distancing.
  • If you are staying at Careys Manor, you  are asked to use your bedroom as a changing facility rather than the spa changing rooms.

If you are visiting us for a spa day, it's really important that you arrive punctually as you will be allocated a time to use the spa changing rooms

  • Locker keys are issued at spa reception and our members are required to sign in and out.
  • Lockers are disinfected after each use.
  • Linen baskets are lined to minimise staff contact with used linens.
  • Laundry is bagged appropriately and laundered at 60 degrees plus or if that is not possible we will use detergent that is guaranteed to kill virus.
