1. Blackwater Walking Trail and Arboretum
This is the best place to experience the majestic Douglas firs and redwoods of the Rhinefield Ornamental Drive. Walk the Tall Trees Trail, take a picnic and wonder at the majesty of two enormous redwoods visible from the path. Stroll around the Sensory Trail and really experience trees from around the world in the Blackwater Arboretum.
3. Sir Harold Hillier Gardens
Alongside Exbury Gardens, the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens are magnificent and renowned for its arboretum and gardens. Discover 12 national tree collections, more than 500 Champion Trees and 42,000 plants from all over the world.
Enjoy the seasonal highlights in the gardens as well as the facilities, including plant centre, gift shop, pavillion restaurant, Victorian tea rooms and year round indoor art and craft exhibitions, floral displays, workshops and themed dining events.
3. Historic Winchester
Visit the beautiful city of Winchester, the once capital city of England, Winchester is a quiant and picture-postcard city full of history, offering a unique heritage including a magnificent cathedral, the great hall and Arthur’s round table as well as a vast array of shops, pubs and restaurants.
We often recommend visiting the stunning city that played a part in literary history, inspiring Jane Austen, who lived in nearby Chawton, to write such classic novels as Sense and Sensibility and Emma. Just a 35 minute drive from Careys Manor Hotel, Winchester is a must on your visit to the South.
4. The New Forest Museum
Visit the New Forest Museum at the New Forest Centre in Lyndhurst and learn more about our beautiful ancient woodland; with displays showing the history of the forest, informaton about forestry and commoning, geology of the area and the conservation that takes place throughout the National Park.
5.Cycle the New Forest
One of the best ways to explore and discover the New Forest is on two wheels. We have over a hundred cycle and walking paths throughout the New Forest just waiting to be explored.
